Job Title: Agency and Community Initiatives Manager

Location: Remote with drop-down offices, but must be local to the Phoenix Metro Area

Reports To: Director of Waste Not, an affiliate of United Food Bank

Supervises: Volunteer Drivers

FLSA Status: Exempt/Full-time - $45,000/year

The Agency and Community Initiative Manager is a key role at Waste Not and will report directly to the Waste Not Director. This position is responsible for managing recipient partner agency relationships and all aspects of various community initiatives including our food rescue technology platform, MealConnect, and our farm feed initiative. This is a community-based position which requires Valley-wide travel and remote working with touchdown offices in both Scottsdale and Mesa. Activities on occasion may require working in the evening or on weekends.

Agency Relations responsibilities include:

  • Onboarding new agency partners, including site visits, training, and compliance

  • Developing and ensuring positive relationships with Waste’s Not’s recipient partner agencies who benefit from the food donations collected and delivered by Waste Not

  • Visiting agencies on a regular basis to evaluate needs and ensure donated food is being handled and distributed appropriately

  • Maintaining accurate and current agency records

  • Working closely with the transportation manager to ensure all agencies are properly scheduled on truck routes

  • Responsible for creating and disseminating annual agency survey and using data to improve relationships and operations

  • Communicating to staff on a regular basis to provide information that can be used for external affairs storytelling

  • Other duties as assigned

Community Initiative responsibilities include:

  • Introducing the foodservice industry, and the community in general, to our food rescue app, which automates the process of donating excess food

  • Managing the day-to-day administration of the app technology

  • Manage all aspects of recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteer drivers

  • Working closely with those in the foodservice industry (restaurants, resorts, caterers, event venues, etc.) to educate and encourage them to use the tool.

  • Managing all aspects of our farm feed initiative, which allows us to feed animals with food not fit for human consumption, including partnerships with farms and working with our transportation manager to coordinate logistics

  • Finding homes for unique food donations including a recipient agency that can take them and coordinating logistics with transportation manager

  • Exploring ways to expand our food rescue reach with edible and non-edible food

  • Other duties as assigned
